Before playing for money, open the game's own information screen and confirm RTP, paylines, min/max stake, Wild rules, Scatter requirements, free spins and max win for the exact version in front of you. Never assume one release matches another.
Choose the Stake
The stake shown at the control bar is the total wagered per spin, not a smaller line or coin value, confirm that before you rely on it for bankroll planning. Reel probabilities don't change with stake size; only the money attached to each result does.

Once Spin is pressed, the result is already decided, no symbol choice, no payline choice, no Wild-substitution choice. The game checks every active payline automatically. Your job is to read what happened, starting with reel 1.

This site's paytable. Three Ankhs from reel 1 is enough to pay, a fourth or fifth matching Ankh would have paid more. Numbers are illustrative for this walkthrough.
Result Two: A Line That Doesn't Connect
Three matching symbols on screen do not always mean a win. Positions have to connect through an active payline, matching artwork scattered across different rows is not enough.
Same Symbol, No Shared Line
No Line Win

Q
K
J

Reel 1 (top row) and reel 5 (bottom row) both show an Ankh, and reel 2 shows one in the middle row. None of the site's 10 paylines runs through all three positions, so nothing pays here.
Matching symbols must connect through an active payline, not just appear anywhere on the grid.
Result Three: Horus Fills the Gap
Ankh, Ankh, Horus, Ankh: the falcon substitutes for the missing Ankh on reel 3, and the game calculates a four-symbol combination automatically.
Before Wild
Broken at Reel 3

K

Q
A King on reel 3 breaks the run. Two Ankhs is not yet a paying combination on this paytable.
After Wild
4-Symbol Win

Q
Horus lands on reel 3 and substitutes for Ankh. Reels 1–2–3–4 now match: 4× stake = £2.50 at a £0.50 stake.
Horus substitutes inside a sequence that's already valid up to that point. It doesn't reconnect across a reel that already broke the run earlier (Ankh–different–Horus–Ankh across reels 1–2–3–4 would not win, because the sequence already broke at reel 2, before the Wild).
Horus Can Expand
In classic-style versions, one Horus position can grow into a full Wild reel. Every active payline crossing that reel gains a Wild, so a single expansion can create several separate wins on the same spin, each line checked and paid separately, then summed.

Full Horus Wild GuideA Scatter Near Miss
The Scatter's main job is opening free spins, not paying like a premium symbol. Two Scatters landing with a third narrowly missing ends that spin with nothing carried forward, unless the exact game has an explicit persistent-collection mechanic.

The Trigger Spin
A few spins later, the required Scatters land. Check the exact count and awarded spins for your own version, don't assume a number from another release.

The First Upgrade
Horus lands, and the lowest active symbol tier upgrades into the tier above, the lower tier disappears from the reels for the rest of this feature, and its positions convert.

A Second Upgrade
Later, Horus lands again. Rather than the ladder view, here's the reel itself, before and after, a deliberately different way of showing the same idea.

An Extra-Spins Event

No history panel, no Scatter counter, no "Horus due" meter. An excellent bonus doesn't make this spin more likely to lose; a terrible one doesn't make it owe you anything. Only the balance changed.

"WIN £0.30" is a real winning combination, but the cash position that spin changed by −£0.70. Judge a session by the balance, not by counting WIN displays.
Wins in Multipliers Too
Multipliers let you compare results fairly across different stakes. A £0.50 stake winning £10 is 20×, a stronger result relative to stake than a £2 stake winning £20, which is only 10×, even though the cash figure looks bigger.
